We are seeking a Data Scientist to support Rula’s new Trust and Safety team
In this role, you will serve as the core technical data expert responsible for protecting our platform, evaluating healthcare claims, and ensuring our operations meet the highest regulatory standards
This person will be responsible for reviewing billing patterns, identifying data anomalies, and delivering clear analytics to our legal and compliance partners
This person will apply advanced data querying skills and a strong understanding of medical coding frameworks to safely navigate large, complex datasets
You will be joining a highly collaborative, deeply supportive team environment where you will report directly into the Sr. Analytics Manager of Business Intelligence

Pay and benefits that aren’t geo-locked- Deep understanding of data integrity auditing practices, with experience tracking down discrepancies, gaps, or historical anomalies in complex data infrastructure
Strong data storytelling abilities, specifically a proven track record of translating complex, technical data discoveries into clear risk assessments for non-technical leadership and legal partners
Demonstrated expertise with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Hex, Mode) to build automated risk-monitoring pipelines and compliance dashboards
5+ years of related professional experience in an analytics, data science, or forensic data investigation role
Expert proficiency in SQL and Python/R for querying large datasets, building data logic, and identifying systemic anomalies

Prior experience working directly within a healthcare compliance, legal operations, or Trust & Safety environment (e.g., auditing for fraud, waste, and abuse)
Strong familiarity with medical coding frameworks (such as CPT, ICD-10, or HCPCS) and health insurance reimbursement pipelines
Experience working with healthcare claims data, such as insurance claims, billing records, or electronic health records
Experience within a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment with the ability to handle dynamic, ambiguous analytical priorities and build frameworks from scratch
A proven proficiency to connect analytics insights directly to corporate risk mitigation strategy, proactively influencing operational safeguards and platform guardrails
