About the Role
We are looking for an analytical and curious Data Scientist Intern to join our engineering and data team. This is an entry-level position ideal for students, fresh graduates, or self-taught practitioners looking to gain hands-on industry experience in turning raw data into actionable insights and machine learning models. You will work alongside experienced data scientists and software engineers, analyze real-world datasets, build predictive models, and learn modern data science practices in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, preprocessing, and exploring large-scale datasets.
- Build, train, and evaluate exploratory machine learning or statistical models under the guidance of senior team members.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code for data pipelines and analysis.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to discover patterns, trends, and business insights.
- Collaborate with the team to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions.
- Maintain basic technical documentation for developed models, datasets, and analysis scripts.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Python for data science (libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn).
- Familiarity with basic statistical concepts and data visualization tools/libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn).
- Familiarity with basic SQL and database querying.
- Familiarity with basic Git workflows (commit, push, pull, branching).
- Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking with an analytical mindset.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to present insights clearly.
- Currently pursuing or completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent practical coding experience/bootcamp.
Nice-to-Have (Optional)
- Exposure to deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) or Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Familiarity with data warehousing, cloud platforms, or Jupyter notebooks.
- Understanding of basic RESTful APIs or web scraping (BeautifulSoup, Selenium) for data collection.
- Experience with dashboarding tools like Tableau or Power BI.
